          I.   Introduction
A.    Nahum Often Counted The Highest Among The Minor Prophets
1.    Nahum prophesied about the time of Isaiah and Micah
2.    Nahum was a native of Galilee
3.    Capernaum means “Village of Nahum”
4.    Nahum means “comforter”
5.    Primarily a book of prophesied judgment against Ninevah … about 150 years after Jonah’s revival there
6.    Perhaps best known to some because of 2:3–4 … sometimes thought to be a prophecy of the automobile

A.    The Lord is Good … Reveals the Personality of the Lord
1.    What good news! God is good
a.    Not a divine dictator bent on punishment
b.    Not a triune tyrant waiting to pounce on us
2.    The child’s prayer: “God is great, God is good” HE IS!
3.    The Lord is good: Creation declares it!
a.    Genesis 1:1–25: Each part of creation speaks of His goodness
b.    Creation’s beauty is good
c.    Only humanity fell into sin
4.    The Lord is good: The cross demonstrates it
a.    The greatest evidence of His goodness
b.    The greatest demonstration of His mercy and love
c.    The crucified and risen Christ shows God’s goodness
B.    A Stronghold in the Day of Trouble … Announces the Protection of God
1.    A place of protection in times of peril
2.    The walled cities of long ago
3.    The early settlers and their forts
4.    America as a place of protection for those fleeing persecution
5.    Trouble comes to every life, but the Lord meets us there (John 16:33)
a.    Times of sickness
b.    Times of emotional stress
c.    Times of depression
d.    Times of financial reverses
C.    He Knoweth them that Trust in Him … Speaks of a Personal Walk with God
1.    The privilege of being known by God
2.    Neither a king nor a president … but the Lord

4.    I know Him and He knows me
5.    Trust is the basis of this close relationship
        III.   Conclusion
A.    How Perfectly This Follows Reason

2.    He protects us
3.    Therefore, He is worthy of our faith

A Threshing Floor In the ancient world, farmers used threshing floors to separate grain from its inedible husk (chaff) by beating it with a flail or walking animals on it—sometimes while towing a threshing sledge. Sledges were fitted with flint teeth to dehusk the grain more quickly. Other workers would turn the grain over so that it would be evenly threshed by the sledge.
