The Power of the Word for Testimony

‎The psalmist prays for the lovingkindness of the Lord to be manifested in deliverance, according to God’s word. This will enable him to render a decisive answer to those who taunt him with the uselessness of serving God. If he fails to experience this deliverance, then he will be deprived of the power to bear witness to the truth before his tormentors. If God will give him this grace, he resolves to send the rest of his life observing his law. In so doing he will be walking “in a broad place,” i.e., he will know true freedom. Should the opportunity present itself, he is prepared to confess his love for God’s word before rulers. He “lifts up his hands” to God’s commandment, i.e., he shows them the utmost reverence.

A Threshing Floor

A Threshing Floor In the ancient world, farmers used threshing floors to separate grain from its inedible husk (chaff) by beating it with a flail or walking animals on it—sometimes while towing a threshing sledge. Sledges were fitted with flint teeth to dehusk the grain more quickly. Other workers would turn the grain over so that it would be evenly threshed by the sledge.
