Mundy's
Quote of the Day
Is
it alright to love the things of the world? No!
1 John 2:15-17 15 Do not love the world
or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the
world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does
the will of God abides forever.
What
then are we to love?
Deuteronomy 10:12-18 12 “... what does
the LORD your God require of
you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in
all His ways and to love Him, to serve
the LORD your God with all your
heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes
which I command you today for your good? 14 Indeed heaven and the
highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the
earth with all that is in it. 15 The LORD delighted only
in your fathers, to love them; and He chose their
descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day. 16 Therefore
circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer. 17 For
the LORD your God is God of gods
and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and
awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe. 18 He administers
justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him
food and clothing.
Romans 13:8-10 8 Owe no one anything
except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,”
“You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not
covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this
saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no
harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
