Prayer

Prayer Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy
Lord, I come blessing this Your day as You have blessed me and others to see this beautiful day of Your creation. Bless those that come to worship You this Lord's Day in remembrance of everything that You have done for us from Creation to Your Son for all of the sins of the peoples of this world through His dying and resurrection for our salvation to those that believe in faith, genuine repentance and accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. I pray for those that do not know Jesus to COME for their soul salvation. Bless the sick, those incarcerated, the poor and needed and the homeless. In Jesus' name. Amen.

June 8 Lesson 2 TRUST GOD’S PROMISES
DEVOTIONAL READING: Psalm 27:7–14 BACKGROUND SCRIPTURE: Haggai 1:12–2:9

HAGGAI 1:12–15
12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

14 And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

This treatment of the International Sunday School Lesson is written by Sam E. Stone, former editor of CHRISTIAN STANDARD. ______ By Sam E. Stone Only 38 verses long, Haggai is the second shortest book of the Old Testament (after Obadiah). It is filled with important teaching, however. In last week’s lesson, the prophet Haggai called the people back to their task of rebuilding the temple. They had ignored their responsibility for 16 years! His challenge had an immediate effect. The people accepted God’s message, and within 24 days the work was underway. The work was resumed with the right spirit (1:12), with divine blessing (vv. 13, 14), and with haste (v. 15).
Building a TempleHaggai 1:12-15 The same two people addressed in the book’s opening verses—Zerubbabel (the governor of Judah) and Joshua (the high priest)—are again noted as the authorized leaders for the nation. Their positive influence had been successful. The whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord. Now the people…
