‎This kind of stone grinder was used for the first time only in the Roman period. It consisted of two that stones were conically shaped on the inside, and placed on top of each other. The upper stone could easily be turned by a donkey tied to a rod, which was inserted into the upper stone. Such a device could grind a much larger amount of grain than simple grinding stones.
