Sea of Galilee: Bethsaida—Excavations

‎Extensive archaeological excavations conducted at Bethsaida on the north east shore of the Sea of Galilee revealed important finds from the First and Second Temple periods and remains of a Bronze Age city from five thousand years ago. Bethsaida in Galilee is mentioned as one of the towns on the shores of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus ministered and where he performed the miracle of the five loaves of bread and two fishes (Luke 9:10–17). It is said to be the home town of the three disciples, John, Philip and Nathaneal (John 1:1–44) and as one of the three cities, along with Capernaum and Chorazin, that were cursed by Jesus when the townspeople rejected him.
