Taken too soon

Taken too soon
By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy

Too often we hear “Taken too soon” of the death of a person by family, friends, and newscasters. There are Christians that utter “Taken too soon” also in the death or hearing of a death of a family member, friend, enemy or church member.
Are the words “Taken too soon” spoken by Christian’s, atheist, and secular persons correct? Or do God speak of taking a life too soon? The answer to both questions is a resounding, NO!
We must look at why God shortens man’s life: And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” (Gen. 6:3, NKJV)
Man’s lifespan is shortened because of sin.
Is Genesis 6:3 contrary to God’s word? The answer is a resounding, NO! Why then is this false charge against God’s word believable in the secular and portions of the Christian world? Can the news media's be a contributing factor? Yes. The latter has broadcasted lies of people claiming to be 121 – 140 years of age in recent months; that would make God a liar. God cannot lie because he is a righteous and truthful God. To make matters worse, some did not look past the age of 80 – 90 physically.
We must not look past living 120 years of age if God allows us with his grace and mercy to live past the age of 100.
God’s word teaches us to be prepared. Thus, you must be ready and prepared when God’s “death angel” as an old Negro hymn states, “The death angel come a knocking at your front door (soul)”.
Conclusion
but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away.

For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So, the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits. (James 1:10-11, NKJV)

A Threshing Floor

A Threshing Floor In the ancient world, farmers used threshing floors to separate grain from its inedible husk (chaff) by beating it with a flail or walking animals on it—sometimes while towing a threshing sledge. Sledges were fitted with flint teeth to dehusk the grain more quickly. Other workers would turn the grain over so that it would be evenly threshed by the sledge.
