Proverbs 16:1-2; Proverbs 16:21-24

The (Jer. 10:23preparations (plans) of the heart belong to man,
(Matt. 10:19But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own (Prov. 21:2eyes,
But the Lord weighs the spirits.


The wise in heart will be called prudent,
And [the] sweetness of the lips increases learning.
22 Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it.
But the correction of fools is folly.
23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth,
And adds learning to his lips.
24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

A Threshing Floor In the ancient world, farmers used threshing floors to separate grain from its inedible husk (chaff) by beating it with a flail or walking animals on it—sometimes while towing a threshing sledge. Sledges were fitted with flint teeth to dehusk the grain more quickly. Other workers would turn the grain over so that it would be evenly threshed by the sledge.
