Day 7 - Sabbath - Saturday - (Lord's Day - Sunday - International KJV Sunday school Lesson - Outline for Teacher's & Student's)

August 1 Lesson 9 ( KJV ) Salvation Available for All Devotional Reading: Psalm 19:1–14 Background Scripture : Romans 10:5–17 Romans 10:5–17 5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. 6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Day 7 - Sabbath - Saturday - Today's Scripture & Insight - ODB

Today's Scripture Luke 15:8–10  ( NIV ) Insight Jesus’ involvement with the outcasts of society offended the self-righteous Pharisees and the teachers of the law ( Matthew 9:10 ;  Luke 7:34 ;  15:1–2 ) who saw themselves as the only people deserving of heaven. In response, Jesus taught the three parables found in  Luke 15 : the lost sheep ( vv. 3–7 ), the lost coin ( vv. 8–10 ), and the lost son ( vv. 11–32 ). All three stories follow a pattern—something is lost, a relentless search is undertaken, and there’s great rejoicing when the lost is found. These paint an unmistakable picture of the persistent and seeking God who relentlessly searches for us until we’re found. In the parable of the lost coin, “ten silver coins” ( v. 8 ) was equivalent to only ten days’ wages for a common laborer but would constitute a significant portion of the woman’s livelihood, especially if she were poor or a widow. Some scholars suggest the coins were precious because they were part of a dowry, a he

By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Luke 15:8-10 Parable of the Lost Coin 8 “Or what woman, having ten silver ( Gr.   drachma ,   a valuable coin often worn in a ten-piece garland by married women)  coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?  9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’  10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”   The New King James Version . Romans 10:8-15 But what does it say? ( Deut. 30:14 )  “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):  9 that ( Matt. 10:32; Luke 12:8; Acts 8:37; Rom. 14:9; [ 1 Cor. 12:3 ] ; Phil. 2:11 )  if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved .   10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.   11 For the Scripture says ( Is. 28:16; Jer. 17:7; Rom. 9:33 )  “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”   12 For ( Acts 15:9; Rom. 3:22, 29; Gal. 3:28 )  there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for ( Acts 10:36; 1 Tim. 2:5 )  the same Lord over all ( Eph. 1:7 )  is rich to all who call upon Him.   13 For ( Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21 )  “whoever calls  ( Acts 9:14 )  on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Israel Rejects the Gospel 14 How then shall they call

Day 7 - Sabbath - Saturday - Weekend Devotions - Logos

July 31: Cosmic, Creation, Chaos 2 Samuel 23:1–24:25; Jude 1:17–25 ; Psalm 148:1–150:6 Psalm 148 is cosmic in scope and comforting in the message. It’s a depiction of how Yahweh brought order to chaos in the very beginning. Yahweh put the heavens, heights, angels, hosts (His armies), sun, moon, stars, and waters in their place—each a sign of His rule over the universe ( Psa 148:1–5 ). Yahweh rules over the elements commonly depicted as gods in the ancient Near East; He rules over the symbols of chaos. And this cosmic depiction is comforting. The version of the creation story we typically hear tells how things came to be, which is good. But when the story is cast like it is in Psa 148 —where we see God as ruler and Lord over chaos—the message moves beyond intellectual knowledge. If God rules over chaos and has since the beginning, He can bring order to the chaos in our own lives. For this reason, the psalmist praises Yahweh both for His creation and for His work in his own life. Th

Day 6 - Friday - Today's Scripture & Insight - ODB

Today's Scripture 1 Samuel 18:5–9   ( NIV ) Insight The strange mix of emotions found in  1 Samuel 18:5–9  is worth noting. The troops and officers were “pleased” when David’s military success was rewarded with promotion ( v. 5 ), and the homecoming of the army was met with dancing and singing ( v. 6 ). But the emotional atmosphere soon shifted because the song celebrated David’s greatness above Saul’s ( v. 7 ). Internal envy gave way to anger and displeasure ( v. 8 ). We see biblical warnings against envy throughout Scripture. The book of Proverbs says, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones” ( 14:30 ) and “Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?” ( 27:4 ). The word translated “envy” in  Proverbs 14:30  and “jealousy” in 27:4 is the same Hebrew word. What’s in view are strong feelings of resentment or ill-will because of the actual or perceived advantages. By:  Arthur Jackson

Day 6 - Friday - Today's Scripture Lesson - NKJV, Logos

By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy 1 Samuel 18:5-9 So David went out wherever Saul sent him  and   ( Or   prospered )   behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and in the sight of Saul’s servants.   6 Now it had happened as they were coming home when David was returning from the slaughter of the ( Philistines)  Philistine, that ( Ex. 15:20, 21; Judg. 11:34; Ps. 68:25; 149:3 )  the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments.   7 So the women ( Ex. 15:21 )  sang as they danced, and said: ( 1 Sam. 21:11; 29:5 )  “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” 8 Then Saul was furious, and the saying ( Eccl. 4:4 )  displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me, they have ascribed only thousands. Now, what more can he have but ( 1 Sam. 15:28 )  the kingdom?”   9 So Saul
