Day 4 - Reflect & Pray - ODB

Reflect & Pray When you ask God to search your heart, what personal wrongs do you discover? How does intentional “weeding” help rid you of a relentless sin? Loving God, when You show me my personal sin, point me to Your plan to pull those weeds.

Day 4 - Today's Scripture & Insight - ODB

Today's Scripture Psalm 139:1–6 ,  23–24 ( NIV ) Insight In the Bible we read of God’s  omniscience —His knowledge of everything. In  1 Samuel 2:3 , Hannah declares that He’s the “God who knows.” In  Psalm 44:21 , the psalmist says “he knows the secrets of the heart.” In  Psalm 139 , David marvels that God  knows  his every move and thought ( vv. 1–4 ). Yet instead of trembling with fear, David’s awestruck at the thought that God has such intimate knowledge of him ( v. 6 ). Why? Because David has a close relationship with God—he loves and is loved by Him. As a result, he can ask God to search his heart and, if he’s found wanting, to lead him down the right path ( vv. 23–24 ). Our all-seeing and all-knowing God “searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought” ( 1 Chronicles 28:9 ).

Day 4 - Today's Scripture Lesson - NKJV, Logos

By: Rev.Lynwood F. Mundy Psalm 139:1-6, 23-24 God’s Perfect Knowledge of Man 139:title For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. 1 O Lord, ( Ps. 17:3; Jer. 12:3 )  You have searched me and known me . 2 (   2 Kin. 19:27 )  You know my sitting down and my rising up; You ( Is. 66:18; Matt. 9:4 )  understand my thought afar off. 3 ( Job 14:16; 31:4 )  You ( L it.  winnow )   comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord,    [ Heb. 4:13 ]  You know it altogether. 5 You have (   enclosed)  hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. 6 ( Job 42:3; Ps. 40:5 )  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. 23 ( Job 31:6; Ps. 26:2 )  Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And ( Ps. 5:8; 143:10 )  lead me in the way everlasting. Day 4 - Daily Devotions - Logos

March 31: Gifts and Grace Numbers 35:1–36:13 ; 1 Corinthians 16:1–24 ; Psalm 30:1–12 “Yahweh spoke to Moses on the desert plains of Moab beyond the Jordan across Jericho, saying, ‘Command the children of Israel that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their property cities to live in; and you will give to the Levites pastureland all around the cities’ ” ( Num 35:1–2 ). The idea of giving is ancient. Before God’s people even enter the promised land, they’re commanded to help the Levites—who will be serving them as spiritual leaders—by giving them cities. Now that God has given to the people, He asks that they give back to His work. There is an opportunity for obedience, and this obedience will come with the blessing of continued spiritual guidance from the people to whom they are giving the land. But giving is not the only concept at play here. Shortly after this, God asks the people to provide refuge cities for murderers ( Num 35:6–8 ). He institutes a system of grac

Day 3 - Verse of the Day - ODB

I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. Exodus 12:12 ‘For I ( Ex. 11:4, 5 )  will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and ( Num. 33:4 )  against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment:  ( Ex. 6:2 )   I am the Lord.     The New King James Version . Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982. Print.

Day 3 - Reflect & Pray - ODB

Reflect & Pray What false god is suffocating your life? How might you show God you’re trusting only in Him? Father of life, I give You my life. Help me recognize that any perceived “enemies” in my life are nothing compared to Your power.

Day 3 - Today's Scripture & Insight - ODB

Today's Scripture Exodus 12:12–19 ( NIV ) Insight In preparation for the last plague on Egypt, God told His people to slaughter a lamb and sprinkle its blood on the doorposts of their houses ( Exodus 12:1–13 ). God’s angel of death would move across Egypt and take the lives of all firstborn sons but would pass over any household with the sprinkled blood. The lamb was then roasted and eaten along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. The unleavened bread signified Israel’s haste to leave Egypt. When leaven was added to dough, it would take hours for the dough to rise before baking. The Israelites didn’t have time to wait for the dough to rise. The herbs symbolized the bitterness of slavery in Egypt.
