Eucalyptus trees are reflected in the still waters at the Christian baptismal site, Yardenit, at the point where the Jordan flows out of the Sea of Galilee. The site is run by members of Kibbutz Kinnereth. Those coming to be baptized in the River Jordan recall the words of the New Testament: “Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him” (Matthew 3:13). “And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him” (Mark 1:10).
