Today's Scripture : Ephesians 1:3-14 Insight  Ephesians 1:3–14   praises God for His work of creation and redemption . Paul goes to great lengths to describe and celebrate the goodness of God for His grace and promise . Twice Paul mentions that our salvation is in accordance with His good pleasure or “according to the purpose of His will ” ( Ephesians 1: 5 ,  Ephesians 1 : 9   ESV ). God made the decision to lavish grace on those who would be saved in Jesus Christ , and He took delight in extending that grace .

Details I didn’t know I’d made an irreversible mistake until about 30 minutes before we were supposed to board the plane. I looked down and noticed that I was wearing one black shoe and one brown one and immediately remembered that I didn’t pack a spare pair of shoes in my suitcase. Very early in the morning last Tuesday, I took a quick shower and got dressed in the dark so I wouldn’t wake up Susan. The night before I’d set out the suit, shirt tie and shoes I would wear on the plane and to my first meeting that was scheduled for less than an hour from when I touched down in San Diego. Picking my wardrobe was a simple process of elimination. Because the meeting was in Southern California, I’d ruled out any of my 100% wool suits for the trip and had settled on taking a [three-button] brown linen and wool blend jacket with a pair of worsted wool tan slacks. Initially, I was going to wear a brown silk jacket, but I’d heard the night before that [two-button] jackets were out of style,

March 31: Gifts and Grace Numbers 35:1–36:13 ; 1 Corinthians 16:1–24 ; Psalm 30:1–12 “ Yahweh spoke to Moses on the desert plains of Moab beyond the Jordan across Jericho, saying, ‘Command the children of Israel that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their property cities to live in; and you will give to the Levites pastureland all around the cities’ ” ( Num 35:1–2 ). The idea of giving is ancient. Before God’s people even enter the promised land, they’re commanded to help the Levites—who will be serving them as spiritual leaders —by giving them cities. Now that God has given to the people, He asks that they give back to His work . There is an opportunity for obedience, and this obedience will come with the blessing of continued spiritual guidance from the people to whom they are giving the land. But giving is not the only concept at play here. Shortly after this, God asks the people to provide refuge cities for murderers ( Num 35:6–8 ). He institutes

Today's Scripture : Matthew 26:26-29 Insight  The Passover is a family meal observed at the beginning of Israel’s religious calendar, commemorating their deliverance from Egyptian slavery and celebrating the beginning of a redeemed people who belong to God ( Exodus 12:1–3; Exodus 13:3, Exodus 13:14–16; Exodus 19:5–6 ). Because Jesus Himself is the true Passover Lamb ( John 1:29; 1 Corinthians 5:7 ), He instituted a new family meal. His eating the Passover with His disciples points to the formation of a new kingdom of God —a [newly] redeemed people and a new family of God . Today we refer to it as the Last Supper because it would have been the last Passover meal for Jesus before the cross ( Matthew 26:17–30 ). Many scholars believe the next feast will be at the great messianic banquet when Jesus returns to establish His Father’s kingdom on earth (see  Isaiah 25:6 ;  Luke 13:29 ;  Luke 14:15 ).

Eternal Destiny Larry worked long, hard hours as the manager of a feedlot, but tried to find time to grow in his personal relationship with the Lord .
