Ephesians 1:3–14
Redemption in Christ
(2 Cor. 1:3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
just as (Rom. 8:28) He chose us in Him (1 Pet. 1:2) before the foundation of the world, that we should (Luke 1:75) be holy and without blame before Him in love,
(Acts 13:48; [Rom. 8:29]) having predestined us to (John 1:12) adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, [1 Cor. 1:21] according to the good pleasure of His will,
to the praise of the glory of His grace, [Rom. 3:24] by which He (Lit. bestowed grace (favor) upon us) made us accepted in (Matt. 3:17) the Beloved.
[Heb. 9:12] In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to [Rom. 3:24, 25] the riches of His grace
which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and (understanding) prudence,
[Rom. 16:25] having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure [2 Tim. 1:9] which He purposed in Himself,
that in the dispensation of (Gal. 4:4) the fullness of the times (1 Cor. 3:22) He might gather together in one (Eph. 3:15; [Phil. 2:9; Col. 1:16, 20]) all things in Christ, (NU, M omit both) both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
(Rom. 8:17) In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to (Is. 46:10) the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
(2 Thess. 2:13) that we (James 1:18) who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
In Him you also trusted, after you heard (John 1:17) the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, [2 Cor. 1:22] you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
(2 Cor. 5:5) who (NU which) is the (down payment, earnest) guarantee of our inheritance (Rom. 8:23) until the redemption of [Acts 20:28] the purchased possession, (1 Pet. 2:9) to the praise of His glory.
