The Wise and the Fool Excerpt These statements contrast the wise and the fool. While  the  discerning  person is characterized by his wise statements, one lacking  judgment  ( cf . v .  21 ;  6:32 ;  7:7 ;  9:4 ,  16 ;  11:12 ;  12:11 ;  15:21 ;  17:18 ;  24:30 ;  28:16 ) experiences trouble.
