Threshing and Winnowing
On the right, oxen are driven over freshly cut grain. They are supposed to knock loose the individual grains with their hoofs. Winnowing is depicted on the left. The threshed grain is thrown up so that the light chaff can be blown away by the wind, and the heavier cereal grain falls back to the ground.
