Bronze stands

Bronze stands

‎Altogether ten bronze stands (water carts) were positioned in the temple area. They were about 2.5 m high and had a large bowl inserted on the top where water could be stored. The function of these equipment is not clear at all. Perhaps palm branches were put in the water bowl in order to symbolically illustrate the fertility of the land. In Cyprus, similar stands were found in tomb chambers, but they were only 40 cm high.
