‎The palace where Jesus was convicted by Pilate, with all probability, was located in the area of the present-day citadel in Jerusalem near the Jaffa Gate. The foundation walls of the Tower of David pictured here date back to the time of Herod, but were razed by the Romans. The distinctly different younger wall is clearly visible in the upper parts of the tower.

A Threshing Floor In the ancient world, farmers used threshing floors to separate grain from its inedible husk (chaff) by beating it with a flail or walking animals on it—sometimes while towing a threshing sledge. Sledges were fitted with flint teeth to dehusk the grain more quickly. Other workers would turn the grain over so that it would be evenly threshed by the sledge.
