Electronic Bible Thief Sought - Jacksonville News Story - WJXT Jacksonville

Electronic Bible Thief Sought - Jacksonville News Story - WJXT Jacksonville Only Christians will buy those stole electronic items. What a sad thing if they do. The thief will probably sell them at the Flea Market. Has he ever heard, "Thou shall not steal?" When he is apprehended the judge will tell him at his sentencing, "Thou shall not steal" which will be the only way that he will hear that because he isn't going to read the Bible nor go to church seeking Jesus for his salvation.

BACK WHEN WE WERE NEGROES

Back when we were Negroes By Charles E. Richardson Posted on Sun, Jul. 31, 2011 in the Macon Telegraph There was a time until the early 1960s when the terms to describe those of African decent, like me -- African-American or Black or Afro-American -- were almost unheard of. I remember a distinct conversation with a friend discussing descriptive terms for ourselves in 1963 or '64. The term "black" was just coming into vogue and he didn't like it one bit. "Call me a Negro," he said, "but don't call me black." Now, the word "Negro" (publications used a lower case "n") has almost become a pejorative, so I was a little surprised when my pastor, the Rev. Willie Reid, used it during Thursday's revival. "Back when we were Negroes," he said, and listed several things that were different about black life in America back then. That got me to thinking. Back when we were Negroes in the 1950s, "onl

Sermon Starter - Water Baptism and the Holy Spirit

Water Baptism and the Holy Spirit Key Verse: Acts 8:15 I. Philip baptized believers and unbelievers with water. A. Many in Samaria were baptized after hearing Philip preach about Christ and believing “the things concerning the kingdom of God” (Acts 8:12). B. Among them was Simon the magician who had been influencing the people in that region with his magic. Although Simon claimed to be a believer, his heart had not yet been enlightened by the Holy Spirit. II. The apostles responded to the situation. A. After hearing “that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John” (Acts 8:14). B. The Apostles’ concern was that the believers receive the Holy Ghost (Acts 8:15, 17), the sign of true acceptance by God (Matt. 3:11; Acts 10:44–48). III. Water baptism is invalid without the Holy Spirit. A. The believers’ faith was confirmed and their salvation made sure when they received the Holy Ghost (Acts 8:17; 2 Cor. 1:21, 22;

Truer Words Were Never Spoken

The less you associate with some people, the more your life will improve. Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity. An important attribute in successful people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting people. As you grow, your associates will change. Some of your friends will not want you to go on. They will want you to stay where they are. Friends that don't help you climb will want you to crawl. Your friends will stretch your vision or choke your dream.. Those that don't increase you will eventually decrease you. Consider this: Never receive counsel from unproductive people. Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always first to tell you how. Not everyone has a right to speak into your life. You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person. Don't follow anyone who'

Hurricane Irene, Preparedness

Hurricane Irene, Preparedness At the time of this writing there is a tremendous hurricane showing its fury of winds exceeding 130-150 mph, torrential rains causing severe damages to property upon the Caribbean nations in its path—the lost of one life at this time. Hurricane Irene is shown to be larger than the State of Arizona of the United States of America. With the governments of the Caribbean nations and the United States of America—Federal, State and Local—are urging people to be prepared stocking—water, food, batteries, medical records as well as marriage records, care of family pets and anything that would be considered important. No one however is telling the people to be prepared if the hurricane Irene takes ones life; no one is telling the people to get their soul right with God in case He calls their soul home—in death—because it would be His will and not hurricane Irene which is His showing of His Almighty Omnipotence powers.; for YHWH is God and there is no other god g

Tom Joyner's Blog on President Obama

TOM JOYNER BLOG on President Obama We've all expressed our opinions, vented, aired it out, and in my heart of hearts, no matter how we got to this point, I believe most of us share a common goal—to re-elect President Obama. That can only happen if we take all the time and energy we've been using to debate, defend - and yes, digress (Tavis didn't patent that word, did he?) and move forward. Like the mamas on my staff tell their little boys when they're distracted by whatever is on the PSP, DS or Wii screen, "Let's focus." If we can learn anything from Republicans, it is that they have the ability to not just rally together, but to grab onto a single candidate, issue, piece of propaganda, whatever, and clamp down like a pit bull. Once they make a decision, they will not be swayed. How many times have you listened to one of them recite the party line, and you think to yourself, I KNOW they don't really believe that? Maybe not, but by being consistent

Changing Your Mind Can Be Blessed or Disastrous Key Verse: Matthew 21:29 I. The context of the parable of the two sons A. The parable comes in response to the question the chief priests and elders asked Jesus as He taught in the temple, “… By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?” (Matt. 21:23). 1. Jesus refused to answer their question directly since they declined to answer His own question concerning the source of John the Baptist’s baptism. 2. Yet this parable provides an indirect answer, as is shown by the connective “but” which begins it. B. This parable is presented as a vivid pictorial challenge to the Jewish leaders. 1. In Matthew 3:4–6 we find a first group responding to the message of repentance by John. But they came to John after their change of mind and regret for their sinful way of life. They feared that the Messiah wou

What does it meand to be Missional?

What Does It Mean to Be Missional? This question does not end with a grammatical word , but that does not matter. Myself and others are trying to let you know that worshiping the Lord does not start and end with service on Sunday. Service to the Lord YHVH is a 24-7 job. Serving the Lord YHWH isn't hard, it's easy if you're a "born again" Christian with a made-up mind to serve the Lord. Serving God YHVH is the purpose of being a bond servant; everything that you do should show Christ Jesus in you. When you earnestly repented and accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord, King and Savior, immediately the Holy Spirit of God comes and indwells in you; you then become sons and daughters, Ambassadors, bond servants and His sheep. As the video says in its own word "Missional," I say to you, be "Missional" in your work for the Lord. - Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Prayer: Heavenly Father, bless those that are Your sheep, and those that are secular. May thos

5 Must-Know Facts About First-Time Guestsby Rick Ezell

5 Must-Know Facts About First-Time Guestsby Rick Ezell Church leaders need to be aware of five significant facts about first-time guests looking for a church home. Healthy and growing churches pay close attention to the people they count as members, as well as those people who are not yet a part of the flock. These churches know that new people are the lifeblood of a growing church. Like a spigot, they want to keep the valve open for the flow of new people, and most importantly, they want to ensure that nothing impairs or cuts off the flow of new people to the church. With that in mind, pastors need to be aware of five significant facts about first-time guests looking for a church home. 1. Visitors make up their minds regarding a new church in the first ten minutes of their visit. Often, before a first-time guest has sung an inspiring song or watched a compelling drama or viewed a well-produced video vignette or heard a well-crafted sermon, they have made up thei

The Coming of the Holy Spirit Key Verse: John 15:26 I. The Holy Spirit has always existed. A. The Lord Jesus has always been. “In the beginning was the Word” (John 1:1) refers to the eternal self-existence of Jesus before He became flesh (John 1:14). B. It is equally true that the Holy Spirit has always existed and been active in the affairs of the world along with God the Father, and God the Son. For instance, it was the Holy Spirit who was instrumental in the conception of Jesus in human form (Matt. 1:18, 20). It was also said that John the Baptist would be filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother’s womb (Luke 1:15). Likewise, both Zacharias and Elisabeth were filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:41, 67), as were Simeon (Luke 2:25) and Anna (Luke 2:36). These events all occurred before the manifestation of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. II. Jesus foretold the coming of the Holy Spirit on the n

What are You doing to Stay Small and Strategic?

I read an article this morning: What Are You Doing to Stay Small and Strategic? In it it reminded me of what the Holy Spirit has been telling me to write. However Peter Meade wrote what I was given but slothful in writing it. Today we find some pastor's forgetting about feeding the congregants but began thing more so about them self: Filthy lucre (money); being recognized within Local, State and National denomination organizations and looking for a mans-calling to a "Mega Church." All of this is done while negating true worship in God's House that He has placed him over. It is saying, "God, You gave me this small church and others have come to know me as a flamboyant preacher, so I'm promoting myself for a higher self-calling." Your and God's church is suffering for attendance: Sunday school and worship attendance, but there is a will-show of worship in various types of--what is called a particular ministry type of ministry--that is secular in

Benediction

Have you ever wondered why Jesus never used a benediction? The reasons are: Jesus was from the beginning of Creation and will never die; He is always with you with the Father, and will never leave nor forsake you. The apostle Paul being a human was mortal and would need to leave a benediction to those he wrote or visited too. 14. The grace, etc. The most complete benediction of the Pauline epistles. In most of the epistles the introductory benedictions are confined to grace and peace. In the pastoral epistles mercy is added. In the closing benedictions uniformly grace. Loving Is Obeying Key Verse: John 15:10 I. Love is a magnet. A. The Greek word translated “love” in John 15:9 is agápē, “unselfish love which seeks to meet a need in another.” 1. Christ wants us to love (agapáō) our enemies (Matt. 5:44; Luke 6:27, 35). He does not want us to stay away from them, even as He did not stay aloof from those who hated Him. 2. He wants us to recognize their need and meet it, even as He met our own need in our sinful condition. 3. If you are estranged from people, try loving them by meeting a need in their lives. Thus you will build a bridge between you and them. B. From agápē there springs philía, “friendship,” which is commonly translated love. 1. This type of love is based on a relationship of common interests. Two people are friends when they are concerned about the same things. There is more a bond of equality among friends. 2. Obedience

Matthew 5:38-42 is one of Scripture's most mis-interpretive. Today I will paste what is the true meanings of those verses from the Bible Knowledge Commentary. 5:38-42 (Luke 6:29-30). The words Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth come from several Old Testament passages (Ex. 21:24; Lev. 24:20; Deut. 19:21); they are called the lex talionis, the law of retaliation. This law was given to protect the innocent and to make sure retaliation did not occur beyond the offense. Jesus pointed out, however, that while the rights of the innocent were protected by the Law, the righteous need not necessarily claim their rights. A righteous man would be characterized by humility and selflessness. Instead he might go “the extra mile” to maintain peace. When wronged by being struck on a cheek, or sued for his tunic (undergarment; a cloak was the outer garment), or forced to travel with someone a mile, he would not strike back, demand repayment, or refuse to comply.
