Tennessee Football Prayer

I receive myriad e-mails, some comical of which I confess am not fond of and quickly delete them. Then there are others of which I love to read and pass along, only if they are true and religious. The following e-mail was sent to me by a very dear friend. Of course, I researched it on to verify its authentication. Of course, this one was authentic and worthy of me to reformat and correct grammar mistakes for your spiritual edification. At a Tennessee Football Game September 1, 2000, the following PA announcement was made by the schools Principal, Jody McLeod. This is not a joke Christianity is now the target of persecution. Purity In Speech
What is the first vacation you remember taking with your family? For me, it was a trip to Yellowstone National Park in Montana. The sights were breathtaking and the water was crystal clear. Dad taught us how to kneel beside the clear stream, cup our hand to drink the clear water.

We just returned from a family vacation in the Colorado Rockies. Do you think I passed that lesson on to my children? Not on your life. We drank bottled water.

I wouldn’t drink water from a stream without taking extreme measures to purify it. Unfortunately, there is too much pollution in our Nation’s water supply to drink untreated water.

Poisoned water can cause stomach problems and even death in some cases. A contaminated water supply has killed the population of entire villages in some under privileged nations. It is a serious problem.

How much poison does it take to make water impure? Not much, just a trace can ruin an entire supply.

  Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” (Matthew 16:24)

Every believer has a cross of some kind that Christ expects him to carry cheerfully each day as a demonstration of his discipleship. Life is a matter of choices. If we have made a decision to follow Christ, there must be purposeful self-denial in our lives or we have not really learned the meaning of true discipleship. Salvation is free, but discipleship is costly. Bearing the cross involves a willingness to look beyond our own affairs and to share the load of others in order that they too may have a personal relationship with the Savior.
Henry Lyte spent the last 23 years of his life ministering to an Anglican parish of humble fishermen in Devonshire, England. In spite of his cross of frail health, Lyte worked tirelessly to build up a Sunday school of more than 800 children, and he …
