God’s Intention Is an Unfolding Mystery Excerpt The mystery is neither inscrutable nor obvious; it can be known, but only by  revelation  ( 3:3 )*  by the Spirit  ( v .  5 ), and requiring special  insight  ( v .  4 ). The term  revelation  is important to our understanding of the inspiration of Scripture . ( See   notes .) The terminology in verses   3–5  shows something of the process by which God communicates his truth. Not everything God reveals becomes Scripture , but in this case it has, by divine inspiration.
