Winged dragon Two dragons are depicted on this libation vase from Tello (beginning of the 21st century BCE) that is made of dark-green steatite, and is 23 cm high. The dragons are flanking two intertwined snakes. In the Near East, dragons were considered demons, but ones that also have divine properties. They are mainly responsible for the chaotic world that is excluded from the world of divine order; thus they represent the danger that can always happen in life.
