I try not to discuss anyone's religious denomination or belief(s), but this, and three articles to follow, I have to teach the truth as God chose me to do.
A Voice from Heaven
My Beloved Son
By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy
Read Scriptures: Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 17:5-7; Matthew 12:18
I heard a Pentecostal apostolic Bishop last week say that “The Spirit of God was not upon him [Jesus].” He further stated, “Jesus was not baptized in the Spirit because he [Jesus] had to baptize in the name of Jesus.”
Firstly, I will address the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist: Matthew 3:16-17 clearly states, “16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” As can be seen, Jesus was:
1. Jesus was “Baptized” and not sprinkled.
2. “The heavens were opened” when he came “straightway out of the water.”
3. “and he[Jesus] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
4. “And lo a voice [God’s voice] from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I (God) am well pleased.”
Secondly and lastly, how could John the Baptist baptize Jesus into himself before the Father could place His Spirit in him?” If so, Matthew 3:14-15; is not true. That’s preposterous. The Bible is the True Word of God.
The statement from this unlearned Pentecostal apostolic Bishop is misleading and wrong as two left feet—causing secular as well as Christian unlearned like his hollering deacon in the radio background saying repeatedly, “Preach Bishop! That’s right, preach Bishop! That’s the Word!”
John the Baptist before baptizing Jesus said that, “One is to come that his [Jesus] sandal [I] he is not worthy to unlatch.” See John 1:15, 27; John 3:30, 31; Acts 13:25. And to make the Pentecostal statement and belief of “You must be baptized in the name of Jesus” untrue is: Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8: Luke 3:16; John 1:26; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:16. This denomination believes in the Scripture Acts 10:48a (of the Apostle Peter’s saying, “48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord [Jesus]),” but drastically misquoting it. The Father and Jesus are one and the same person. Jesus is God incarnate—Immanuel, God with us. The Holy Ghost is a separate person, but third person of the Triune.
Read 2 Timothy 2:14-16 so you will be able to rightly divide the Word of Truth.

Statement of Confession: I believe in the Trinity--Father, Son and Holy Spirit; The Three are One in the Father. I believe that Jesus is the Savior to those that accept Him in genuine repentance of their sins through faith as their Lord and Savior. I believe that baptism--immersion, burial--is an outward show to the world of their acceptance of salvation by Jesus for His dying, resurrection and His sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven.
