‎R. Bultmann (John [Eng. tr., 1971] 535 n.1) correctly emphasizes two aspects of μένω ἐν: In reference to humankind “abide in” designates “loyalty”; in reference to the reveal-er or God it designates “the eternal validity of the divine act of salvation for the believer.”
