Nard

Nard

‎In antiquity, perhaps the most expensive fragrance was the nard (a loanword in Hebrew: nard; Sanskrit: nalada; Persian: narada). The plant grows only in the Himalayas, at an elevation of 4000 m. The hairy stems of the plant provide the fragrance.
Song 1:12; 4:13–14; Mark 14:3; John 12:3
