The Great Day of God

4:1 “For behold, (Ps. 21:9; [Nah. 1:5, 6; Mal. 3:2, 3; 2 Pet. 3:7]) the day is coming,

Burning like an oven,

And all ( Mal. 3:18) the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be (Is. 5:24; Obad. 18) stubble.

And the day which is coming shall burn them up,”

Says the Lord of hosts,

“That will (Amos 2:9) leave them neither root nor branch.

2 But to you who (Mal. 3:16) fear My name

The (Matt. 4:16; Luke 1:78; Acts 10:43; 2 Cor. 4:6; Eph. 5:14) Sun of Righteousness shall arise.

With healing in His wings;

And you shall go out.

And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

3 (Mic. 7:10) You shall trample the wicked,

For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet

On the day that I do this,”

Says the Lord of hosts.

4 “Remember the (Ex. 20:3) Law of Moses, My servant,

Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,

With (Deut. 4:10) the statutes and judgments.

5 Behold, I will send you ([Matt. 11:14; 17:10–13; Mark 9:11–13; Luke 1:17]; John 1:21) Elijah the prophet

( Joel 2:31) Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

6 And he will turn

The hearts of the fathers to the children,

And the hearts of the children to their fathers,

Lest I come and (Zech. 14:12) strike the earth with (Zech. 5:3) a curse.”
