Matthew 3:13-17
Baptism of Jesus
Mark 1:9–11; Luke 3:21–23
13 (Matt. 3:13–17; Mark 1:9–11; Luke 3:21, 22; John 1:31–34) Then Jesus came (Matt. 2:22) from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.
14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”
15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus, it fits for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.
16 (Mark 1:10) When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and (Or he) He saw ([Is. 11:2]; Luke 3:22; John 1:32; Acts 7:56) the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
17 (John 12:28) And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, (Ps. 2:7; Is. 42:1; Mark 1:11; Luke 1:35; 9:35; Col. 1:13) “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
