Psalm 139:1-6, 23-24

God’s Perfect Knowledge of Man

139:title For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord, (Ps. 17:3; Jer. 12:3You have searched me and known me.

2 ( 2 Kin. 19:27You know my sitting down and my rising up;

You (Is. 66:18; Matt. 9:4understand my thought afar off.

3 (Job 14:16; 31:4You (Lit. winnow) comprehend my path and my lying down,

And are acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word on my tongue,

But behold, O Lord,  [Heb. 4:13You know it altogether.

5 You have ( enclosed) hedged me behind and before,

And laid Your hand upon me.

6 (Job 42:3; Ps. 40:5Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

It is high, I cannot attain it.



23 (Job 31:6; Ps. 26:2Search me, O God, and know my heart;

Try me, and know my anxieties;

24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,

And (Ps. 5:8; 143:10lead me in the way everlasting.
