Can Women be Pastors

Can Women be Pastors By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Dr. Alan Cairns, Lecturer I have been asked on numerous occasions about women pastors, elders, evangelist, bishop, deacon or deaconesses? What about the mother of Jesus Mary? To solidify biblical truths that I have given in the past, I located Dr. Alan Cairns a retired Presbyterian minister—one of my favorite gospel writers and lecturer. He discusses the Gospel truths on the subject at length; the short but very concise truth was located at: http://www.sermoncentral.com which is also founded on my ministry blog: http://www.lfmundy2000.blogspot.com –DAILY, WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY INTERNET EVANGELIZE TO THE WORLD MINISTRY on the Internet. Not to further what some call argumentative on the subject—nothing in the Bible is argumentative—but should lead up to a mature discussion for ones biblical truth in learning of the subject(s). Dr. Cairns’ lecture is located at: Can Women be Pastors? Summary Hopefully, one can research the Bible at length on ...

A Voice from Heaven

I try not to discuss anyone's religious denomination or belief(s), but this, and three articles to follow, I have to teach the truth as God chose me to do. A Voice from Heaven My Beloved Son By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Read Scriptures: Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 17:5-7; Matthew 12:18 I heard a Pentecostal apostolic Bishop last week say that “The Spirit of God was not upon him [Jesus].” He further stated, “Jesus was not baptized in the Spirit because he [Jesus] had to baptize in the name of Jesus.” Firstly, I will address the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist: Matthew 3:16-17 clearly states, “16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” As can be seen, Jesus was: 1. Jesus was “Baptized” and not sprinkled. 2. “The heavens were opened” when h...

Part 2 - The Environment

Part 2 - The Environment By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Read Scripture: Genesis 1:26-30 Would God treat the environment like He charged Adam to treat it? The answer is empathetically, no. Then why is man treating the environment with such dis-concernment? The answer is founded in: “1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV 1900) 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” In looking to todays Scripture, we find that God placed man in charge over all living things: Genesis 1:26 (KJV 1900) says,” 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” One would ask, “How does that Scripture have anything too do with the environment?” In taking a closer look, the answer can be founded: Every living...

The Environment - Part 1

The Environment - Part 1 By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Read Scripture: 1Timothy 6:3-10 Everywhere we look, listen, see or breathe, we find environmental disasters. In politics, lawmakers cannot and will not address the causes of the environment because of lobby’s and their rich funders. Rich funders are corporate owners that love money. They overlook saving earth’s atmosphere, sanitary and non-contaminated water supplies, soil and killing of animals, trees and even human-beings; in poor countries where there is a dictator-ruler, the love of money for themselves, family members and corrupt cronies is number one in ruling over their subjects. Environmental issues are non-existent. Looking more in-depth in to the various ways, man has caused environmental disasters and concerns: • Earth’s Atmosphere o The ozone layer that is the upper atmospheric (stratosphere) element that contains earth’s protection from the suns harmful radiation (ultraviolet). • Trees o Trees are being cut down to make w...

Tomorrow? Next Week? Next Month? Next Year?

Should you boast about what will happen tomorrow, or maybe next week, month or year? The Answer: "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Proverbs 27:1 ESV)." "24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (1 Pe 1:24–25, KJV)." Then what should it be? The Answer: "The Lord's will be done! (1 Pe 1:24d, Amp ).

God's Employment

Working (Evangelizing) for God is the best employment employer that any chosen person can have. There is no lay-off or down-sizing. The pay is His blessings and pointing the way of lost souls to His Son for their salvation. There is always joy, peace and happiness, though sometimes the way gets wry in His employment, but He is always there without failing to uplift you! His s.o.p. (standard operating procedures) is His Word the Bible. Knowing His s.o.p. is easy, because it has everything that life can throw at one, and it never changes its procedures. - Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy

Choose You this Day where You want to Spend Eternity

Choose this day where you would want to spend eternity: Heaven serving the Lord with a new body, no more tears, no more sickness, no more.... Or you can spend eternity in Hades (hell) for eternity weeping and gnashing of your teeth and from an unquenchable fire. The choice is yours while you have life here in your body. There is no stop-off for a period of time and then you will go to heaven. If that is true, there would be no hell. The Bible clearly states heaven or hell where you will spend eternity after your earthly death. - Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy

What's the Best Tone for Your Preaching?

What's the Best Tone for Your Preaching? John Piper Desiring God Scripture:Romans 15:4 Romans 8:32 Date Published:6/16/2011 "The question I have for preachers is: What tone should you aim at in preaching? This is an urgent question because, if you don't answer it, your listeners will answer it for you." Phillips Brooks, who died in 1893—and who, along with Jesus, Paul, John Stott, Dick Lucas, and other preachers, never married—most famously said that preaching is “truth through personality.” This personality factor raises the question of preaching tone. What should a preacher aim at in the tone of his preaching? By “tone,” I mean the feel that it has. The spirit it emits. The emotional quality. The affectional tenor. The mood. Personalities Are Like Faces Every personality has a more or less characteristic tone. That is part of what personality is. Some personalities play a small repertoire of emotional instruments, while others play a larger repertoire. Nev...

What to Preach to Yourself Every Day

What to Preach to Yourself Every Day Tullian Tchividjian Topic:Grace Scripture:Ephesians 1:3-1:14 Date Published:6/16/2011 Keywords:Grace, Gospel, Preaching "The hard work of Christian growth, therefore, is to think less of me and my performance and more of Jesus and his performance for me." Email this article Print Friendly Because we are so naturally prone to look at ourselves and our performance more than we do to Christ and his performance, we need constant reminders of the gospel. If we’re supposed to preach the gospel to ourselves every day—what’s the actual content of that message? What is it exactly that I need to keep reminding myself of? If God has saved you—if he’s given you the faith to believe, and you’re now a Christian; if you’ve transferred trust from your own accomplishments and abilities to Christ’saccomplishment on behalf of sinners—then here’s the good news. In the phraseology of Colossians 1, it’s simply this: You’ve already been qualified, you’ve...

How to Teach Old Testament Characters

How to Teach Old Testament Characters J.D. Greear JDGreear.com "I believe most contemporary teaching on Old Testament stories is hopelessly moralistic, giving us merely examples to emulate rather than a Savior to adore and hope in." Recently I taught through the life of David in a series called “The Search for a King,” and I thought I’d use that to offer some reflection here on how I have learned (and am learning) to teach through Old Testament characters in Gospel-faithful ways. We discover that the life of David occurs in the midst of a quest Israel was on to find a king. Israel yearned for a king who could give them stability, guarantee their prosperity, and ensure their security. Saul seemed like the perfect choice for Israel. He was a good leader, charismatic and promised to provide Israel with everything they desired. In the end, of course, he bitterly disappointed them. The next king God gave to them was of a fundamentally different type. He was, literally, ...

Not Believing in God

Not Believing in God Make sure that you scroll all the way down to see what this message is about. For you, you might not be surprised, but I sure was. Make a personal reflection about the following episodes of what God can and will do to refute mans stupidity, haughtiness and boastfulness. The following are very interesting. Read to the end and see what God can and will do to bring man and woman to death as only He can do. It is written in the Bible, Galatians 6:7: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Also, Psalm 53:1a-b The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Here are some men and women who mocked God: • John Lennon (Singer of the Beatles). Some years before, during his interview with an AMERICAN MAGAZINE, he said, “Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that; I am certain Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him” (1966). Lennon, after saying that th...

Is there any other Way to God Except Through Jesus?

Is there any other Way to God Except Through Jesus? By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Scripture: John 3:3; John 14:6 There are myriad of religious denominations, occults and false prophets that claim their religion, religious denomination or they (false prophets) are the only way to God. However, man is completely wrong in their religions, religious denominations or false prophets in thinking they can reach God their way. Firstly, Jesus must be believed and preached to reach God in prayer or worship. John 14:6 is the answer to mans disbelief in getting to God. Jesus simply states, “… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) Secondly, any Christian religion, Christian denomination or Christian believer must believe in John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but tha...

Altar Call

Altar Call By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy This was written in response to an article 10 Reasons Not to Give an Altar Call at SermonCentral.com on June 7, 2011. There were many responders to this article giving their individual thoughts in the positive and negative. All responders respected the writer of the article Thabiti Anyabwile. Thabiti Anyabwile is Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Grand Cayman in the Grand Cayman Islands and a Council member with The Gospel Coalition. I request that you read Pastor Anyabwile’s entire article and draw on your own conclusion(s). You may send your comments to me at the blog address and I will reply to all of them if you agree or not agree with me. Here is my response to the article 10 reasons Not to Give An Altar Call: Altar Calls I feel can be very dangerous in misleading the congregation in to believing what has been preached, taught and sung about is not all true. By that I mean, the minister has been preaching about individual faith and pray...

Worship

Worship By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Scripture: John 4:23-24 WORSHIP — homage rendered to God which it sinful (idolatry) to render to any is created being (Ex. 34:14). Such worship was refused by Peter (Acts 10:25-26) and by an angel (Rev. 22:8-9). True worship to God is being aligned to secular ways of life now in a lot of churches. There are myriad of spiritual denominations that are being aligned with God’s true commands of worship to Him. There are financial, healing, prosperity, spiritual and contemporary churches. Then there are “Camp Meetings,” false fellowship, “prophetic counseling’s, meetings and conferences, “evangelistic meeting,” contemporary singings by known “rappers,” “contemporary recording artists and artistic dancing.” Many churches have idolatrous celebrations in worship for the many auxiliaries, pastoral assistants, church officers and districts. Preacher’s have a false worship with “Church and Pastor’s Anniversary.” It is known in many larger membership churches t...

God's Big Bang

God's Big Bang By: Rev. Lynwood F. Mundy Read: Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:26–28 (KJV 1900) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth....26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Conclusion Big Bang Theorist, Atheist and myriad religions and false prophets cannot, and should not repudiate what God dictated to Moses. Revelation 21-22, with particular attention to the last verse of chapter 22:21, you will notice the...

In the World – June 5, 2011

In the World – June 5, 2011 Posted in: In the World by ron on June 1, 2011 | No Comments Download In the World for June 5, 2011 here. (PDF) TRAVEL TO MODERN GAZA On Saturday, Egypt lifted the four-year-old blockade of its border with Gaza. As part of the decision, the Egyptians are pushing Hamas, the Palestinian faction that rules Gaza, to become less militant. Hamas leaders recently promised to begin talks toward forming a united Palestinian government with Fatah, the moderate Palestinian faction in power in the West Bank. Opening the border was viewed as a reward for this agreement. The ultimate effect is yet to be seen, but Israel fears that the lifting of the blockade will allow Hamas to import more weapons into Gaza, thus increasing the threat to Israel’s peace and safety. ENTERING ANCIENT PALESTINE Ancient Israel’s entry into Palestine was also based on a promise—the one God had made to Moses that he (God) would give the land to Israel. God’s promises are more trustworthy than...

God Keeps His Promise

God Keeps His Promise (Joshua 1:1-6; 11:16-23) By Stephen Bond In Waiting: Finding Hope When God Seems Silent, author Ben Patterson tells a story from his personal life. In the summer of 1988, three friends and I climbed Mount Lyell, the highest peak in Yosemite National Park. Two of us were experienced mountaineers; two of us were not. I was not one of the experienced two. . . . The climb to the top and back was to take the better part of a day due, in large part, to the difficulty of the glacier that one must cross to get to the top. As the hours passed and we trudged up the glacier, the two mountaineers opened up a wide gap between me and my less-experienced companion. Being competitive by nature, I began to look for short cuts to beat them to the top. I thought I saw one to the right of an outcropping of rock, so I went up, deaf to the protests of my companion. Thirty minutes later I was trapped in a cul-de-sac of rock atop the glacier, looking down several hundred feet of she...

This Week with the Word

God keeps his promises Sam E. Stone The Uniform Lesson for June 5 Throughout the Old Testament, "God Instructs His People." The first five lessons this quarter are from the book of Joshua where we will observe how God’s people learned from prosperity. Joshua is the first of what are commonly called the books of history. Joshua begins where Deuteronomy ends—with the death of Moses and the selection of Joshua to be his successor and lead the children of Israel. W. W. Winter explains, "The book of Joshua is not intended merely as a continuation of the history of Israel . . . (although) it does fulfill this immediate purpose. Neither should it be called only a description of the acts of Joshua. The real purpose is to show how the faithful covenant-God fulfilled his promise to Abraham (Genesis 15:18; Joshua 1:2-6)." When Moses was 120 years old, the Hebrew people had wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. He told the people, "I am no longer able to lead you...

The Staff of God

Saturday, June 04, 2011 The Staff of God by Charles R. Swindoll Read Exodus 4:21–23 God was saying to his servant, "Moses, you simply go before Pharaoh and deliver the goods. He won't like it. He won't want it. Just bear in mind that even his stubborn, hardened heart is not outside My will." In the following verse, the Lord gave Moses specific instructions of what to say when he rammed into that brick wall. "Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD, "Israel is My son, My first-born. So I said to you, 'Let My son go, that he may serve Me'; but you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn" ' " (Exodus 4:22–23). To put it into the vernacular, that was a gutsy message. You walk out of the desert into a new land, get an audience with the king, stand before him eyeball to eyeball, and say, "Pharaoh, God says to let His people go. But because you will refuse to do that, your own son wi...

God Is Speaking to You

Saturday, June 4, 2011 June 4/5 God Is Speaking to You Psalm 85:8 Our concept of God determines how we relate to Him. Those who see Him as distant and impersonal may be surprised to know He “speaks” personally to everyone—even to those who deny His existence. Since He wants us to know Him and have a personal relationship with Him, He continually seeks to communicate with us. But without hearing His voice audibly, many people are unaware of Him. Even Christians can develop insensitive spiritual ears. For those who are willing to hear, God’s voice can be discerned through a variety of sources. The most obvious one is the Bible, but He can also call to us through the spoken or written words of other believers. He even speaks through circumstances and the wonders of His creation. I think we would all be amazed if we knew how many different ways our loving heavenly Father tries to get our attention. He calls with a quiet voice that speaks into our hearts and minds. Although His words...

Proclaimers of God's Word

Weekend, June 4 & 5 Proclaimers of God's Word: Hudson Taylor Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself... neither can you, unless you abide in Me. John 15:4 Recommended Reading John 15:1-5 Missionary pioneer Hudson Taylor worked so hard in China that his health nearly broke. One day a letter came from a friend who wrote about the joy of abiding in Christ. The letter said, "Abiding, not striving nor struggling; looking off unto Him; trusting Him for present power...this is not new, and yet ‘tis new to me." Reading this at his mission station at Chin-kiang on September 4, 1869, Taylor's eyes were opened. "As I read," he recalled, "I saw it all. I looked to Jesus; and when I saw, oh how the joy flowed!" Writing to his sister, he said: "As to work, mine was never so plentiful, so responsible, or so difficult; but the weight and strain are all gone. The last month or more has been perhaps the happiest of my life...

Impact For Christ

Impact For Christ June 4, 2011 — by Dave Branon Our Daily Bread Radio is hosted by Les Lamborn Read: 1 Timothy 4:10-16 Be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, . . . in faith, in purity. —1 Timothy 4:12 Bible in a year: 2 Chronicles 21-22; John 14 Over the past several years, I’ve been privileged to travel with teenagers on eight mission trips. One thing I’ve learned in those excursions is that teens are not too young to make an impact for Jesus—either on me or on others whose lives they touch. I’ve also noticed that the teens who make the biggest impact for Christ match the characteristics Paul told Timothy about in 1 Timothy 4:12. Trying to convince Timothy that his relative youth did not have to be a deterrent to his ministry, Paul told him to “be an example to the believers” in several areas. In word: Young people who make a difference for Christ control what they say, avoid negative talk, and speak words that honor God. In conduct: Teens who practice discret...

Two Tales Of One City

Two Tales Of One City June 3, 2011 — by Dennis Fisher Our Daily Bread Radio is hosted by Les Lamborn Read: Nahum 1 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. —Nahum 1:7 Bible in a year: 2 Chronicles 19-20; John 13:21-38 The book of Jonah has the makings of a great movie plot. It contains a runaway prophet, a terrible storm at sea, the prophet swallowed by a great fish, God sparing the prophet’s life, and the repentance of a pagan city. But Jonah’s sequel—the book of Nahum—might not be so popular. Nahum ministered in Nineveh just as Jonah had, but about 100 years later. This time, the Ninevites had no interest in repentance. Because of this, Nahum condemns Nineveh and proclaims judgment on the people. To unrepentant Nineveh, the prophet preached: “The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked” (Nah. 1:3). But Nahum also had a message of mercy. To comfort the people of Judah, he proclaimed: “The Lord...

Jesus Believed He Was the Only Means of Salvation?

Friday, June 3, 2011 Jesus Believed He Was the Only Means of Salvation? John Barnett In John 3 today we are looking at just one of these incredible presentations of the greatest message of all, the plan of salvation. As we look at this event note carefully that Jesus believed that He was the only means of salvation. Christ's presentation of salvation is clearly captured in John 3; and it is a very simple summary of salvation that contained three truths: "you" (salvation is a personal and individual transaction) "must be" (salvation is a very exclusive, narrow, and quite directive command from Jesus to lost sinners who need to be saved) "born again" (salvation is an obedient, personal confession that your first birth into what ever family, religion, heritage, ethnic group, and so on is insufficient to get you to Heaven, and unless a supernatural, conscious miracle called conversion takes place, only Hell lies ahead). What is most compelling about th...

You Are His Concern

Friday, June 03, 2011 You Are His Concern by Charles R. Swindoll Read Exodus 4:19–20 Isn't God gracious? We have a Lord who knows our hearts, knows our thoughts, and knows our fears. When Moses had left Egypt forty years before there were those who sought his life. He was probably featured at the top of the Egyptian version of The Ten Most Wanted list. Naturally, Moses had not forgotten. He was a family man now, headin' west with the wife and kids, and that potential danger must have been weighing on his mind. It was part of the reason he had been reluctant to go in the first place. But when he finally made the decision to embrace God's will, he determined to make the journey in spite of those concerns. He told the Lord, in effect, "Lord, I'm going to trust You with all my heart. I'm not going to lean on my own understanding. In all my ways I'm going to recognize You and let You take care of the obstacles." So he set his face toward Egypt and beg...

Feasting on the Word

Friday, June 3, 2011 June 3 Feasting on the Word 1 Peter 2:2-3 Did you ever watch an infant take a feeding? Hungry little ones clutch the bottle, smack their lips, and make soft contented noises. They thoroughly enjoy their nourishment. But there comes a time when milk isn’t enough to satiate baby’s appetite anymore. That’s when a whole worldof culinary possibilities opens up. Comparing new believers to babies, Peter said that they “long for the pure milk of the word” (v. 2). You wouldn’t feed a newborn steak and spinach, would you? Well, baby Christians must sip scriptural truths that they understand. Then, like a growing child, they shoot up as they feast on Bible passages, gradually taking in more and meatier principles and topics. Believers are not left alone to make sense of Scripture any more than babies and young children are expected to get their own meals. The Holy Spirit, who indwells God’s followers, illuminates the Word. That is, He makes the meaning clear to those w...

Looking Forward

Looking Forward ...looking forward to these things... 2 Peter 3:14 Recommended Reading Titus 2:11-14 Whatever problems you're facing, news you're dreading, or burdens you're bearing--all will be resolved within two seconds of Christ's return. This world brings tribulations, yet we can be of good cheer for He has overcome the world (John 16:33). When He comes, He will give rest to the troubled, and an eternal weight of glory for those facing, "light momentary affliction" (1 Thessalonians 1:6; 2 Corinthians 4:17). The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed (Romans 8:18). One day soon our sighs will become songs, our heartaches hallelujahs, and our worldly woes will be swallowed up in everlasting joy. There will be no heavy hearts in our heavenly homes. That's why the Bible tells us to seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Let's set our minds on things ...
